Exhibition Image

310 April 2009

Exhibited in g39 Cardiff A series of six images takes inspiration from my experience of cleaning hotel rooms at the Marriot Hotel, through boredom and daydreaming I began to recognize the hotel as a filmic setting and started to think about making a few changes in one of the rooms. Three images document the hotel room as I find it with its uniform offering of style and comfort; for the subsequent three images I introduced props, (and these as colorful as I could make them) including paper flowers, satin covers, papier-mâché, and a painted backdrop, all in my attempt to create a Technicolor® world in small corners of this conventional hotel room. The six images were taken using a large format camera and exhibited as giclee prints. The exhibition was held in g39, which is opposite the Marriot hotel, the project was funded through the Arts Council of Wales and with assistance form the Marriot Hotel Cardiff.
